On April 10, 2010 Davenport United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Haines City voted to become one new church in ministry and mission. On April 20th the joint councils voted on a new leadership structure for the transition period along with a new transitional leadership team. On April 25th we celebrated our first joint worship service as one new church. It was exciting! The hand bells led off our worship, the choir sang an incredible anthem, Pam Rhodes preached an exciting message and then the whole congregation sang and clapped and some of us even danced. At the potluck that followed we enjoyed a meal together. After a lively discussion we came up with a favorite name for our new church. We are now New Horizon Church, a United Methodist Congregation.
From our earliest roots of Methodism, Christians were seen in small groups encouraging one another in the Faith and growing in knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and applying them to everyday life.
The Scripture reminds us to "Study to show thyself approved unto God,.." II Timothy 2:15. Bible Study is so important to our spiritual growth. It is my prayer that you will choose to attend at least one ongoing Bible Study during the year. Below are some options from which to choose.
